Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Barnjum is a hopping tourist town - not sure you will get parking on a weekend day. Need moderate / high clearance to get up the Barnjum Road - plenty of washouts and rocks along the way and some alders just itching to steal some paint.

Comments: Great day for these peaks. Pulled in right behind another couple of folks who were also going to hike Abraham. I was certain I wasn't going to see anyone on the South Side Trail all day. It's easy to follow as long as you pay attention. I did go to the summit of Abraham as it is such a nice view and you're already so close to the peak, so why not?

I backtracked down the trail to just where it starts to fall off the ridge and travelled through generally moderate woods until the first talus slope on the ridge of Middle Abraham, where I found the cairn trail. I don't think there is a trail back through the woods - I scouted around just in case, but I couldn't find any semblance of a trail. Somebody, please correct me if I'm wrong. From there, it was a quick jaunt up to the summit and its burned, ghostly forest.

From Middle to South Abraham, I was able to follow the intermittent trail about halfway or so when I think it ended. From there, it was again fairly moderate bushwhacking up to the cone of South Abraham where there is a fantastic view a couple of steps from the summit and some pushing through scrub. I did also visit the SW peak and its wide open rock ledges. I highly recommend this if you're doing these peaks - it is fairly thick but short and gives you more of a wide-angle view.

I then angled back toward the logging roads. This was the worst part of the trip - thick cherry and maple regrowth. Fortunately, I was able to follow some moose paths down lower.

Once I got back to the truck, I followed the ridge up to Farmer. There is an old logging road that leads from the South Side Trail and avoids most of the wet and thick regrowth areas in the saddle between Abraham and Farmer. The ridge of Farmer is wide open and easy.
