Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty at the East Royce Trailhead off Rt. 113 in Evans Notch. Something I forgot to mention in a report from last week ... Rt. 113 has been repaved which is a welcome change. Unfortunately, this is tempting drivers to drive fast and seemingly forget that there is a travel lane in each direction. Be alert for speeding oncoming traffic.

Comments
Comments: A first visit to Speckled and it won't be the last! If this were in NH it would be a candidate for the 52WAV list. And this approach has to be one of the easiest hikes in Evans Notch. Once up on the ridge, walking is very easy and generally smooth. Super views from the ledgy summit that still bears the footings from the former fire tower.

From the height-of-land on Spruce Hill Trail, a short and well-worn herd path leads to the true summit of Spruce Hill, marked by a small cairn.

Nice to meet Larry Yetter out there as I was heading up Spruce Hill Trail.
