 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking is good at both trailheads and the roads are in great shape. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All easily forded on stepping stones. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Two large blowdowns on Miles Notch Trail in the bowl south of the notch. Occasional smaller diameter evergreen blowdowns--some step over, some walk-around, but nothing unexpected for a wilderness area. Great Brook Trail is not marked at lower elevations; one of the forks in the logging road system on descent is not obvious without GPS. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
 | Bugs: |
Black flies and mosquitos not bad but the eyeball gnats were pretty atrocious at lower elevations, worse than I've ever seen them. |

 | Comments: |
Hiked the loop counter clockwise to get the Miles Notch Trail rollercoaster out of the way early. Fog cleared just as I got to the first ledge on Red Rock. Damp hiking all day on account of the previous night's rain. Trails were in generally good shape, some recent erosion from all the spring rains with occasional deep leaf beds from washouts. |
