Comments
Comments: Today was a rather wet and treacherous, but still great day on Old Blue Mountain. The rain yesterday and this morning made for lots of running water, mud, and slippery rocks on the upper parts of Old Blue.

After climbing to the summit, which was in a cloud, we descended into the beautiful old growth forest between Old Blue and Elephant Mountain. There were some very impressive old trees, and I was surprised to see how clear the old Clearwater Brook Trail looked. After ascending the shoulder of Elephant Mountain, we did get some good views from the viewpoint there towards the Tumbledown-Jackson Range. I then continued on to the junction with the Bemis Stream Trail, where I turned around.

On the way back, the summit of Old Blue was still in a cloud, but we did get good views of Black Brook Notch from the lower viewpoint. There were lots of AT hikers out on the trail, but we only saw a few other day hikers.
