What a damn hike, bub.
Quiet, rugged, majestic. The slide up Coe wasn't too bad. Went slow, treaded with caution and followed the cairns up the left. Excellent views over to Doubletop.
Heading to the brother's was slow going. A previous hiker wrote on the register from early June they lost the trail for over an hour. I did not have that experience and was able to go over, under or through the blowdowns that didn't have a defined path around them.
The herd path to Fort is definitely tight and the flagging has recently been replaced, they're small but there. Sitting on the summit, looking at the Traveler's, made the hike back up north brother worth it.
Only thing is, I wish I had brought a water filter. With all this rain the trail up north brother had lots of flowing water and could have saved me the carry. Plenty of water along Marston's Trail. |
