Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at Schoodic Woods Campground. There's a gate so you cannot drive all the way to the end of the road where the trailhead is. This adds a 0.5mi road walk each way. There's tons of paved parking here and there were only a few other cars.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction, Traction, Ice Axe
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I don't recall any.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I'm pretty sure that all trails were blazed in blue. I don't recall the frequency but I don't think any of them were difficult to follow. All trail jcts were signed. There was a mid-sized leaner with some limbs to still maneuver your way around somewhere along Buck Cove Mtn Trail. Widow maker above the trail on East Trail that could come down. Duck under blowdown on Anvil Trail. Probably more I'm forgetting about...
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs are allowed but on a leash no longer than 6ft. Good trails for dogs but not sure how much water there'd be for them.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Second redline of the day after doing a little OAB on the 0.4mi section of Hemlock Rd needed for redlining. Route: Schoodic Woods Campground parking --> Road walk (0.5mi) --> Buck Cove Mtn Trail --> OAB on Birch Harbor Mountain Bike Path (guidebook mentions that the campground is 1.0mi from the trail via this trail and others) --> Buck Cove Mtn Trail --> OAB on East Trail --> OAB on parking lot spur --> Anvil Trail --> Road walk --> Alder Trail --> Schoodic Head Trail --> Buck Cove Mtn Trail --> Wonsqueak Bike Path back to car (guidebook mentions that the campground is 1.8mi from Buck Cove Mtn Trail via a bike path). Unfortunately I was in cloud all day so no views for me and the trails were wet but very beautiful. I don't recall exactly how much mud and water pooling there was but I'd assume a bit given the rain. Biggest thing to note is that there was a massive ice flow on the steeps of East Trail. Honestly, crampons and an ice axe would be proper gear here though I managed with great care with just Hillsounds. Although I'm writing this report more than a week later, I'm sure the ice is still there and likely will be (in at least a semi-treacherous state) for a bit longer. Beyond this, I'm not sure I ever threw on traction. Gaia had me at 10.75mi, 1650ft of gain, 5hr10min.
