Comments: Beautiful day with brilliant sun. A little windy on sugarloaf summit, but very calm on the AT. Great views of Katahdin, but a little hazy to the west. Easy hike to the sugarloaf summit on groomed ski slopes. Two friendly waves from descending ski patrol. Checked in at the top with the ski patrol and dropped down to the AT.

I was out a month earlier and the snow was unconsolidated and very deep. Happily surprised to find a well packed trail with only 1-3 inches of powder. Easily discernible trail all the way to Spaulding and Abraham. Moderate post holing moose tracks on the trail after Spaulding all the way to Abraham. After packing out the light snow and occasional drifts, I would say that the trail is in as good shape as any popular trail in the Whites. A great time to bag these peaks. Overall a great day with spectacular views from Abraham.

One side note. After passing the Spaulding lean to, we came across three snow mobiles that had bushwacked up from CVR presumably, crossed the AT, and were parked. They had really torn up the place. Sad to see.
