 | Comments: |
The trails were damaged by bare booters. My snowshoes sunk in at times in the softening snow. Nevertheless, I didn't have any significant difficulties getting through the churned-up snow. Met three other hikers, one in snowshoes and the other two not wearing the snowshoes. One of the hikers not using snowshoes said she wish she had worn flotation to facilitate mobility. By mid-afternoon some of the snow was getting mushy at lower elevation.
Limited views today. Most of the White Mountain peaks were hidden in clouds. It was a mix of clouds and clear skies around Pleasant Mountain. There were great views of all the surrounding frozen snow-covered lakes.
There was a snowmobile at the summit (probably came up the Firewarden's Trail). Saw the tracks of some skiers on SW Ridge. |
