 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
See Snow Cup report on 12/21. We parked at the head of Bear Brook Road with no issues. This road is not driveable, you *MAY* get in 0.3 before there is a bad washout thats undermined. If you can get past that, you may make it 0.6 to a log yard. Road is heavily damaged with ice flows. Can and should are two different things. Though I suppose the recovery guy down the road would love your business |

A FINE day in Siberia ... I mean Maine. It was -5 at the car, but felt great in the sun. We revisted our plan from the day prior to get the trio, but knew it was only going to be a twofer before going in. Road walk went surprisingly fast, only maybe 6" of powder on the snomo corridor. Herd path is pretty intuitive/discernible with little effort down low until the drainage, then we just made our own way to the col. The quasi trail that was cut along the ridge line is absolutely obliterated with blowdowns, so we opted to just bushwhack along it more or less, reaching a very cold -4 summit of WC. Retracted steps, took compass bearing to KD, much colder over here, -8 on the summit. No sign ins, not many pictures. It got to about zero on our walk out but in the sun it felt like we where on a white sand beach. Boundary will wait for another day. |
