Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail appears to still be under construction and lacks good directional signage and blazing. Although there is flagging here and there, trail is tricky to follow with snow and fallen leaves on the ground. Beyond the overlook, it wasn't clear if the trail system is supposed to continue on--there are flag lines and a red blazed trails heading off along the ridgeline in several directions. The flagging and blazing doesn't seem to be boundary related.

Comments
Comments: Solo hike. Parked at the winter parking area on Sawin. Started out on the trail in snowshoes but the snow became patchy & I ditched them before the ascent and bare booted the rest of the way. There's a good ice flow at the base of the ladder before the overlook; a dangling rope helped with the ascent. At the overlook I noticed flag lines and tracks leading off; I followed one line with red paint blazes & flags a short distance downhill and SW to a ledge with a better view, and another flagged trail E past the summit (short side trip to the summit to sign the jar register) to the col and up the east peak (where a trail marked with big yellow metal tags continues down S). Backtracked to the col, bushed down the drainage then SW along the contour below the cliffs to the Rapa Nui, collected my snowshoes & hiked out.
