With today's overcast skies and cooler temperatures, it seemed like a good day for a wind farm hike! We decided to hike Canton Mountain in Canton, which I hadn't been up for a few years.
Although it was open when I last hiked there, it seems like the lower gate on Ludden Lane is now always closed. From the gate, we hiked up the access road past the wind farm gate. First, we walked the road to Tower 8, before following an overgrown old track up to the road on the ridge. We followed the road to Tower 7 at the summit of the mountain, before following the ridge north to Tower 1.
At Tower 1, there is a picnic table and good views north and east. We enjoyed the views and lunch here, before descending back to our car. On days when it isn't too hot, wind farm hikes are a great way to get in a bunch of mileage and lots of viewpoints relatively quickly. |
