Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Beachnut & Jordan Loop are newly minted Inland Woods & Trails projects. The left leg of M trail, also new, is extremely steep, no switchbacks--not sure how it will hold out vs erosion long-term. Between Jordan Bowl to just below Aurora, Sunday River has blasted a new service road out of the mountainside--I suppose it will revegetate in time, but it looks like Mordor right now.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Not too bad. A few lingering black flies, some deerflies, very few mosquitos.

Comments
Comments: Hiked over the Sunday River Resort's ridgeline using the the resort's summer hiking trail system (mostly uses summer-repurposed ski trails) and some new hiking-only trails. I went up Beachwood & Jordan Loop to Jordan Mountain (which does not have ski trails) where there's a nice ledge overlook & viewing platform. These are brand new trails cut by IWT in partnership with Sunday River. From there, it was mostly open ski trails and service roads marked as summer hiking trails with occasional small signs and rock blazing. From N Trail, I did side trips up to the top of Oz Peak (where a herd path can be followed from the lift terminal to the true summit) and Aurora Peak. From Spruce Peak, I took the west leg of M trail down--this is a hiking only path straight down some really nice ledges, but quite steep with no switchbacks. Made my way to North Peak & hiked a ski slope down & service road back to the parking lot. Great views throughout, taking in the higher peaks of the Mahoosic Range.
