Today, we hiked Snow Mountain in Alder Stream Township. The road in saw some minor washouts from the recent rain, but is passable with decent clearance. Four-wheel drive is recommended, but you could probably get away without it. The trail up was in pretty good shape. It was wet in the usual areas, and there was flowing water on the trail in the usual areas, but there were no major issues.
We ascended via the ATV trail from the 4-way intersection and descended via the entire length of the old fire watchman's trail to Snow Mountain Pond. I personally prefer the latter route. The views from the summit were somewhat restricted by the low clouds, but there were still good views of the surrounding mountains. |
