Comments
Comments: If my memory serves me correctly, trails were marked with a combination of occasional blaze and cairns, but mostly colored diamonds tacked to trees with white circles in them. The color of the diamonds and the blazes corresponded with the color of the trails shown on maps I think: dark blue for Ledges and Bald Peak Trail, red for Firewarden’s Trail, white for North Ridge Trail, and orange for Sue’s Way. I think all signage was in place.

I suppose it’s fitting that I got rained on two days in a row this weekend after such phenomenal weather the previous weekend. We ascended Ledges Trail, took Firewarden’s Trail to the summit, descended Bald Peak Trail, made a loop with North Ridge Trail and Sue’s away with an OAB on the steep 0.3mi section of Bald Peak Trail, then descended this trail the rest of the way down with an OAB on the Needle’s Eye Spur, then walked the road 1.5mi back to our car. It began sprinkling pretty much right when we started, got progressively harder much of the day but never too hard, then the sun came out when we were somewhere around the Needle’s Eye. We did not actually find the ledge on Ledges Trail that slick, though we found some slick stuff coming down off the summit and on our descent. No views from the summit but we got some at least partial views from ledges and various viewpoints. There was one part of Bald Peak Trail that reminded me of coming down off the east ridge of Burnt Meadow Mtn; very cool. I don’t think that the mud was more than you’d expect. We only saw a few others out. Gaia had us at 7.7mi, 2300ft of gain.
