Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the beginning of Elephant Mountain Road. South Arm Road is paved and in mostly fantastic shape. Elephant Mountain Road is washed out in many areas so we ended up parking right at the beginning and hoofing it.

Comments
Comments: Much easier than I expected. We headed in on Elephant Mountain Road and then took an abandoned logging road near the end (a hard left, big switchback). Near the end the forest road, there’s an obvious herd path with a small cairn on the right. This herd path climbs to the summit and appears to follow an old skidder road for the bulk of it. The last few tenths of a mile was a choose-your-own adventure as the summit area is riddled with moose paths. We took a mostly straight track to the summit, which was pretty easy, and then took a different track down (looping around to the left if you’re ascending). This track was a bit tighter at the top, but opened up quickly. Overall, this hike was way easier than I expected and could barely be considered a bushwhack. Jon had to wear his headnet for the mosquitoes and never had to remove it, so you know it wasn’t very thick.
