Appalachian Trail |

|
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Road (North Shore Rd) is accessible by 2WD cars to approx. 100m from Boise Rd (gated at each end.) Room for several cars at end of N. Shore Rd, do not block N. Cove Rd (private) where it turns right. One guy in 4x4 pickup tried going past the end of the plowed section of N. Shore Rd and we had to pull him out when we finished the hike. So don’t go past where N. Cove Rd curves to the right! |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow - Spring Snow |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Several streams open enough not to be stepped over, but only a couple inches deep. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Quite a few blowdowns, as mentioned on 3/30 there’s one that involves climbing and was possible wearing snowshoes. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
AT is dog-friendly in Maine, except in Baxter State Park. Small dogs will have problems on some parts of this section of the trail. All dogs will probably suffer from cold feet due to slush. |

| Comments: |
Snow was very wet and slushy this afternoon, overnight lows are forecast to be 22F with highs around 50F tomorrow so go up early if you don’t want to hike through slop both ways. |
