Comments
Comments: I met up with Amy Niemczura-Sowa this morning to snowshoe the Wheeler Brook Trail. We left a car at the gate on 113, and started from the trail's eastern trailhead on Route 2. Unsurprisingly, the trail was unbroken throughout its entire route, but snow conditions were perfect for snowshoeing, and breaking trail was not very difficult. On the way up to the height of land, we stopped to view the flume and cascades on Wheeler Brook, which were flowing nicely. Some of the crossings of Wheeler Brook were a bit interesting, mostly due to the steep snowy banks on either side of the crossings.

After passing the height of land, it was an easy descent to Little Lary Brook Road. We then followed the road to 113, which we then followed back to the car that we spotted. Route 113 looks to have suffered some significant damage at the Wild River crossing, so I'm guessing that it will have a delayed opening this year. Snowshoes were needed the entire way, and the Wheeler Brook Trail ended up being an excellent winter hike!
