 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Echo Lake Beach Rd was gated near its start. Room to park around here though, just don't block the gate. One other had done so when we returned at 2:15pm. Only on there at 12:45pm. Road is paved. Road walk adds about 1/2mi each way. |

 | Surface Conditions: |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock hopable on the drainage the southernmost section of Canada Cliffs Trail crosses. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Two large blowdowns across Beech Cliff Trail at the first boulder field. A pain but doable to get under, then go over/around I think. I believe there was a smaller and fresher blowdown on Canada Cliffs Trail just beyond where its spur descends to Valley Trail. Trail signs intact. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Beech Cliff Trail is not appropriate for dogs given the ladders. Other trails should be fine for them. |

I believe all trails were blazed in blue.
First and only hike of our fourth and final full day in Acadia. The road is closed at its start so after walking the road, we descended to the Echo Lake, then ascended Beech Cliff Trail to the ridgeline. We were a bit wary of ascending this trail in the wet conditions that surrounded us but other than rocks and ladders, the trail isn't really scrambly/treacherous so with care we proceeded. Also, note that there's a spur to a view early on in the trail that's note described in the guidebook. Before we knew it we arrived at ridgeline and headed south along Canada Cliffs Trail as we did the day prior...still no views ;P When we reached the jct with the spur of Canada Cliffs Trail that descends west toward Valley Trail, instead of continuing straight like we did yesterday, we turned left and descended back toward Echo Lake. Note that although the trail is shown as hitting the road just north of the road's jct with Lurvey Spring Rd, it actually parallels Echo Lake Beech Rd on its western side for some time before ending at the parking area. We then walked back to the car. Conditions were wet/muddy but nothing crazy. Gaia had us at about 3mi, 600ft of gain, 1hr23min. |
