Well we headed into the park! 3 of us were already in, the 2 of us walked the road with only about an inch or two on the group which make for easy walking. We hit the roaring brook area and went into the bunkhouse for some lunch. The cabin was still warm from the guys! We then headed off to our bunkhouse at chimney pond! It was snowing on the road and then again heading up. The bodies of water we usually cross were not gully frozen yet but Greg the Ranger sounded like walked over half of it. It was super boney walking in and I barebooted but the spikes would have been a little more helpful. It was 30 when we started and I think it dropped to 10 later in the night. We got water from the outlet as chimney pond had fresh snow and we were told to go out in a pair with an ice ax but not close to each other. Not comforting. 7 of us for the night in the bunkhouse! |
