Started at 5:15 am, we were the only car upon arrival. Trace amounts of new snow on the road walk which covered some icy spots. The trail was la Mix of leaves, icy spots, ice flows, packed snow and exposed rocks up to the summit. Hillsound microspikes for the entire trip minus ravine road walk on the return. Lots of balling and leaf collection on the spikes which was annoying but unavoidable. Passed about 20 hikers upon our return starting up the trail. Went out and back today since we needed to get home for Santa’s arrival! Merry Christmas Eve! |
