Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The parking area at the end of Health Pond Rd seem to always be plowed (I was here last winter as well and later in the season). Just drive PAST the “No-parking, snowplow turnaround” signs to another area to park just beyond. We were the only car there at 11:45am and 2pm. Roads in are fine for any vehicle though last little bit and parking area is snowy/icy though nothing excessive

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The water crossing on Perky’s Path was quite easy at current water levels though signs warn of difficulties at high water. I don’t recall any others.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Chestnut Trail is marked in blue, Heritage Loop in orange, Amos Mtn Trail in red, Hemlock Loop in yellow, and Perky’s Path in red. The colored marker corresponds with the color of the trail on the maps. I think that blazing was pretty frequent. With open woods and snow on the ground, we had to briefly look for the next marker at times (maybe just on Perky’s Path) but overall I’d say the trails are easy to follow. I don’t recall any blowdowns but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any… at every jct, you’ll find a trail map that will tell you where you are; all of these seemed to be in good shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure
Bugs
Bugs: I think we may have seen some snowfleas.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: 2nd hike of the day after Ladies Delight with the CCC! I’d redlined here last February, but while on Amos Mtn realized that the guidebook’s descriptions of trails did not match what I was seeing. Sure enough, the trails had changed and this was reflected in the 12th edition that recently came out. More trails were added as well.

We hiked up Chestnut Trail, then hiked counterclockwise around Heritage Loop Trail to the southern end of Amos Mtn Trail which we took further south to Hemlock Loop Trail which we hiked counterclockwise back to Amos Mtn Trail, then continued NE on Heritage Loop Trail to close out the loop, then back down Chestnut Trail, but then took Perky’s Path back to the car just for the fun (and completeness!) of it all despite it not being needed for redlining. The snow was only a couple inches deep. Certainly no need for snowshoes yet and while we carried spikes, we did not use them.

No views today with the clouds but a pleasant enough redline loopdee-loop nonetheless. Gaia had us at 4.5mi, about 700ft of gain, 2hrs.
