Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The guidebook’s directions are correct but I’m not sure why it directs you to the parking lot on Willis Mills Rd trailhead when there’s another trailhead right at the start on Oversett Pond Ln. I parked in the corner where there was one other car at 1:30pm and room for more than a half dozen. The other lot has room for less than a half dozen and only one car was parked there. I believe all roads were paved except for Willis Mills Rd and Oversett Pond Ln. These were in good shape and passable by any vehicle as were the parking areas.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None that I recall. The outlet of the pond has bog bridges across it so was easily crossable. Don’t know how high water would have to be to make that difficult.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trails are marked with red arrows tacked to trees similar to nearby Long Mtn. I do not recall any blowdowns but that doesn’t mean there weren’t any…
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Was able to squeeze a short hike in in between some very busy weekends and time away. This is another new edition to the 12th Ed of the MMG. I hiked the loop as the guidebook described and came back along Oversett Pond Ln. I don’t recall much about ground conditions but there was no significant snow/ice to be wary of (though I imagined that’s changed now) and I think there were still some very wet/muddy areas though they’ve got to be freezing over now. The trails were easy to follow. The pond offers nice views of the mountain/cliffs and the mountain offers great views to surrounding peaks and ponds. Note that the the true trail deviates slightly from what is shown on Gaia. There were a couple of signs for an outhouse near the pond and I followed them briefly but didn’t see an outhouse nearby so dropped it. It could have been further along the old road. Other signs near Oversett Pond Ln just pointed “Out” which I found humorous. The 3mi Sanborn Loop could arguably be needed for redlining. Personally I’d call it a gray area and say it isn’t needed because although it’s mentioned in the guidebook with a distance inside the main trail description, it isn’t described as a spur. In any case, I’ll likely go back to do it. No other spurs to worry about here. Gaia had me at 5.2mi, 600ft of gain, 2hr15min.
