Comments
Comments: It had been a few years since I'd been up Colonel Holman Mountain in Dixfield, so I decided to head back today. I parked at the end of the maintained portion of Rollins Ridge Road, and started hiking on the unmaintained portion of the road. I followed the ATV trails, old logging roads, and snowmobile trails to the summit of the mountain. Most of the intersections are well marked with signs pointing towards the summit. The trails had some rather wet sections and were quite grassy in parts, which led to me pulling off numerous ticks. Upon reaching the summit, I discovered that significant clearing had taken place in the couple of years since I'd been up there last. There are now expansive views to the north and west, in addition to the southeastern viewpoint. It's also worth noting that the summit looks like it will be an ideal blueberry picking location in about a month.
