Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: If redlining, I’d really recommend getting this whenever you hike Abol Trail since you’ll need to park at Abol Campground and have a reservation for this. By the time I started around 5:30pm, the parking lot was nearly empty. Park Tote Rd is well taken care of and should be drivable with any care with care .
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: You cross a stream at the very start of the trail not mentioned in the guidebook. It was rock hopable but not exactly easy. 24hrs before, you would’ve been wading or standing on submerged rocks.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail was blazed in blue and was easy to follow. I don’t recall any blowdowns. It is signed at its start in the campground.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs are not allowed in BSP.
Bugs
Bugs: I recommend bug spray.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nine

Comments
Comments: 2nd hike on my 1st full day staying in Old Town and redlining. If redlining, I’d really recommend getting this whenever you hike Abol Trail since you’ll need to park at Abol Campground and have a reservation for this. I hiked a loop with a car spot over Abol and Hunt Trails earlier. This is a pleasant, short, easy trail, with gradual grades the whole way. Only one or two spots that were wet/muddy enough that I watched my step. Only potentially tricky thing about this trail is the water crossing at the start if water is real high. Note that the 0.8mi is from the trailhead inside the campground and if walking from the day use parking area, you’ll need to walk into the campground like you’re hiking up Abol Trail a little ways. Gaia had me at just under 2mi with 275ft of gain, taking me just under 45min to complete.
