This was a nice short steep hike and the trail is in pretty good condition overall. There was some off and on rain while I was out so everything was wet. The first half mile was a little muddy - some spots more softer and deeper than it appeared. The more significant wet spots have rocks over to cross them. After a mild walk to the old cabin the trail gets incredibly steep! Rock staircase was real slick in the rain, I really took my time on the way down. View from the top is gorgeous, looking down on Moosehead Lake. It just started clearing with the fog lifting from the lake, a very nice scene. |
