Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Small-mid sized dirt lot off of Greenwood Rd. Room for maybe close to a dozen cars. I was the only one there at 7pm and 7:30pm I believe.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in Maggie’s Nature Park are blazed according to the color they appear on the map. They ask you to take a photo of the map rather than take one to preserve resources. Peaked Mtn Trail is blazed in yellow and Ledges Trail (called Harriet’s Trail on the map) is blazed in red. All trails here are very well blazed but jcts are not signed. There is a number and/or email at the kiosk that you can call to report significant blowdowns of which there were none on my route. The spur trail off of Ledges Trail is signed but very small.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure. They just ask that you either take their waste with you or make sure that it’s off trail and that they’re leashes or under control.
Bugs
Bugs: I don’t recall them but I was moving quickly.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: 5th and final redline of the day after Tumbledown via the Loop Trail and Brook Trail loop, Blue Mtn, Center Hill, and Glassface Ledges Trail. I had redlined this preserve before but gotten confused by what exactly Ledge Trail was and did not hike it (see my previous report) so went back today to clean up this “chad”.

This is a nice little preserve but it’s so well blazed and so “switchbacky” that it can almost cause confusion. Also, the trails aren’t always terribly well travelled and at times seem more like random paint blazes through the woods than an actual trail. Not too much mud and what there was was relatively minor. Make sure not to miss the spur! I think it would be easier to miss if hiking the loop as described in the guidebook (I hiked it in the opposite direction). I didn’t see the sign/jct though and continued onto the spur thinking it was the true trail and when the spur ended, I wandered where the trail went!? Also, while there is a view here, I didn’t see much of a ledge…

Gaia had me at 1mi, 250ff of gain, 26min.
