Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: A number of signs make clear that you cannot park in or by the cemetery but instead need to park at the Rumford Boat Launch parking area where there’s also a trail kiosk. The lot is dirt and just a little rough if I recall correctly.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail was well blazed in yellow. I don’t recall the blowdown situation. The trail could be brushed back and it would be nice if they did something about the mud too (although this could be rather difficult). The trail kiosk mentions mud and some bog bridges or something being in place to help but I saw few.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure but I’d be careful with them heading through the cemetery.
Bugs
Bugs: I don’t recall them being too bad but I’d also just put on a nice, fresh coat of 25% DEET on. Also, though I didn’t pick up any to the best of my knowledge, I would be wary of ticks in this brushy, overgrown trail.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: 4th Maine Redline of the day after Tumbledown via the Loop Trail and Brook Trail Loop, Blue Mtn, and Center Hill. The trail starts off flat through the cemetery, but gets steeper as it enters the woods. The trail could be trimmed back and is overgrown. I’d be wary of ticks. There were also a number of spots that were VERY muddy and were pretty unavoidable with such a narrow footway. The trail ends where the yellow blazing ends. A herd path does continue on. I’m not sure how far but I’d highly doubt it goes all the way to the summit. The view from the ledges was “bucolic” just as the trail kiosk described! Gaia had me at about 1.5mi with just under 650ft of gain.
