Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 11, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: While there were low clearance cars in the parking lot, this is a long drive in on Mt Blue are which is dirt, very narrow, and has some rocks and such protruding from it. The parking lot itself has room for over a dozen cars. I believe it was mostly full when I arrived and mostly empty when I returned. No overflow parking along the road but there’s a big grassy field to the right of the parking lot that you should be able to get through. There’s a bathroom here as well but it’s not visible from the parking area.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I think the trail was blazed in blue but I’m not certain. Easy to follow in any case. I do not recall any blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hiking dogs should be fine. Steep and rough at times but not scrambly. I saw a few that seemed to be doing fine.
Bugs
Bugs: I used bug spray but didn’t notice them much. Then again, someone else commented that they did.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: 2nd Maine Redline after the day after finishing up my redlining on the Tumbledowns via the Loop Trail, Brook Trail loop. This trail has a bit of a warmup but becomes quite the A$$ kicker however short it may be. I’d compare it to Sugarloaf Mtn in the Nash Stream Forest of NH. And, similarly to Sugarloaf, you are treated to a fantastic view from the summit (well, if you climb the firetower which isn’t too sketchy). No scrambling, but the trail is quite steep and rough in some spots. There were definitely some slick and wet spots but I don’t really remember how muddy it was, sorry. There were a lot of other people out hiking. The view on the right just before reaching the summit is similar to the view from the firetower. Note that the old firewarden’s cabin is only a 1/2mi into the hike (on left) not 1mi in. I walked right by it on my way up. Gaia had me at 3mi, roughly 1750ft of gain, just under 2hrs. I think Gaia overestimates the mileage on this one just a little…
