Success Pond Road was passable for a Subaru sedan, Success Trail was mobbed on the way out, 1 other car had ventured down to Speck Pond Trail. North Pond Road is pretty well washed out 0.4-mile from the Success Pond Road junction, parked in an old logging lot 0.3-mile prior to the trailhead. Another car had parked along the west side of the road. ATVs were still using the rough road. |

One large conifer down about a mile in, blocking the path with a well-established herd path now rerouting around |

Didn't see any but they would probably do okay on the wet slabs near the summit |

None! what a surprise, some down at the trailhead but as it was 47-degrees and only getting colder with elevation, we saw ZERO bugs on trail. |

Cloudy, but GREAT day for the Speck Pond Trail up to Mahoosuc Arm. Brook crossings were easy with beautiful cascades before the trail swings away from the water around 1.3-mile. Someone had cut some hobblebush limbs on the initial trek in, otherwise the trail was in great shape. 3 ladder sections were a great addition along the mossy ledges nearing the upper hillside. Overall stunningly beautiful woods in the Mahoosuc range.
I have a feeling I know the large group who was kicking/picking the Lady Slippers; please don't be annoying and hurtful to the environment, leave flowers as they are found and just take photographs.
