Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Countless tiny ones on the way up O/R. A few others had mossy rocks - cross carefully.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Beautiful, new signs on the Orange/Red Trail. Yellow was good until the bottom where the steep part ends, or maybe it was just me being tired. Upper part of Orange has some marshy areas where many bog boards have been thoughtfully placed! Thank you.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lot of great dogs today! And I did not see one bag of "leftovers" on the side of the trail which is so prevalent these days, keep up the good work! Although lower sections have small streams, the summit is dry, plan accordingly. Please remember that part of the preserve is on private land belong to gracious owners.
Bugs
Bugs: CHECK YOURSELVES, YOUR KIDS, YOUR DOGS!!!! if you have been here recently. We are still finding unwelcome hitchhikers a day later. Strong winds kept black flies and skeeters to a minimum.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful. Highly recommended. Did a CCW loop. Went up Orange/Red. Nice combination of flat and gradual ascent. Great variety of flowers. Higher elevation (before the ledges) had lots of Trillium. And when you break out to the ledges, there are a lot of those magenta flowers that bloom this time of year (Rhodora?). Views in all directions from summit. Stiff winds meant no bugs. And it was cool on top. After our Laughing Lion "trip," I was tired and so I took a big nap on that summit. We took the Yellow Trail down. Great views on the descent. A very steep descent, but nothing to trip or slide on. When I finally got to the flat area, there was a sign pointing to East Andover Road. Wasn't sure if this was still part of Yellow, but it was going to end up back at the trail head. Snowmobile/ski trail is very boggy in parts, if you love toads it's the place to be!

I would compare this to Evergreen Link/Cold Brook trail to Speckled Mountain, except shorter. And doing a CCW loop reminded me of Going up Liberty and down Brook (steep). If you're interested and are a blueberry lover, I would hold off going for a little while.
