 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of room at the Brickett Place trailhead. They have restrooms there too. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The two crossings of Bickford Brook were both straightforward rock hops. Other minor crossings were trivial. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few blowdowns, including a huge one on Bickford Brook Trail a little bit above the lower junction with Blueberry Ridge. Not much mud - these trails were in pretty good condition. Signs were all in place. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Should be fine, though part of Bickford Slides Loop runs right at the edge of a very sharp dropoff, so watch dogs carefully there. |
 | Bugs: |
They were out and fierce the entire time. By this point in the day, the bug spray I had put on in the morning was wearing off, and they attacked whenever I stopped moving. I would've stayed longer to enjoy the waterfalls if the bugs hadn't been so bad. |
 | Lost and Found: |
Nothing. |

Well, this was a great way to round out my Evans Notch redlining! The Bickford Slides are beautiful - the Middle Slide in particular. Most of the time, Bickford Slides Loop is easy to follow, but there are a few short places where it's not entirely obvious. Except for the bugs, conditions were very good. Encountered the same group of hikers I'd seen earlier in the day at the junction of Spruce Hill and Bickford Brook. They were playing in the brook right where Blueberry Ridge Trail crosses the brook. Saw no one on the Loop Trail itself.
This is definitely a place to return to when it's not so buggy! |
