Trails
Trails: Osgood Trail, South Face Trail, Larry’s Summit Loop, Hayes Trail, Tower Service Trail, road walk
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, April 22, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Pulloff parking at the start of Osgood Trail. Room for a few cars; one left as I arrived. It wouldn’t surprise me if this got plowed in winter but I don’t know. There’s an actual dirt parking lot for the Tower Service Trail with room for many cars.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I think the few small crossings there were were bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I think all trails were blazed in blue. Some widow makers, mostly on Osgood Trail (near its jct with South Face Trail…on South Face Trail??) but no real blowdowns that I recall. Trail signs and kiosk at the start and at the jct of Osgood and Becton but beyond that I think there were just sign posts with maps which were useful. I don’t remember any cairns, not that they’re necessarily needed but the start of Larry’s Summit Loop from the summit was a little obscure.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: These seem like good hikes for dogs assuming they’re allowed.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: 4th and final hike of the day after church and dinner. Decided to get a hike in the Downeast tab as well, especially since it was actually closer to where I was staying than anything in Acadia. I ascended Osgood Trail, did an OAB on South Face Trail along the way, then hiked Larry’s Loop Trail, then Hayes Trail and the Tower Service Rd Trail the rest of the way down, and then walked the 0.4mi back to my car. The trails were mostly dry as I remember but my memory nor my trail report are much good a week late. I believe the jct of South Face and Osgood trails was wet. Nice view, and I loved the grassy trails through the field. Met a dad at with a big ol’ brood of kids which was nice to see. They and I both were slipping and sliding among all of the leaves down low on Hayes Trail.
