Comments
Comments: The weather this morning was absolutely perfect for a hike up Black Mountain in Peru. The trail is in pretty much the same condition as I remember when I last hiked it in 2021. The trail doesn't have any notable issues, and there are lots of cairns, arrows, and flagging tape to mark the route. The last section of footpath above the logged area has seen some clearing and relocation of short sections. I rebuilt some arrows and cairns which had been affected by weather over the winter. I followed the trail to its end with no issues. The trail has some wet sections, and there is still some snow above 2,000 feet, but neither were really issues.

Upon reaching the top, I spent some time exploring part of the mountain's expansive summit plateau. First, I visited the tiny pond located not far beyond the trail's end. It is a beautiful spot, and I can't think of anything more peaceful than standing on the shore of that pond on a warm spring morning. Then, I explored some of the ledges to the northeast of the trail's end. Here, I found a ledge which offers a good view to the east. This is the best view that I've found yet on the mountain. Black Mountain is a fun off the beaten path hike, and I'm glad I decided to go hike it again today!
