Comments
Comments: Today I hiked a loop over Goose Ridge in Montville. I parked on 220 at the trailhead for the Dave Rock Trail, and did a road walk to the Goose Ridge Trail trailhead on Penney Road. This winding and lightly used trail took me up and over the ridge. The trail is extremely well marked and passes through quite a variety of environments. There are many sections of nice forest along the trail, and it also passes through two fields which offer views of the surrounding hills and to the Camden Hills in the distance.

After descending Goose Ridge and crossing Freedom Pond Road, I followed the Dave Rock Trail back to my car. This was another very nice winding trail through a variety of forests and fields. It also had switchbacks up a steep hill which are quite rare in Maine. It was a great day for a hike in this lightly used area!
