Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There’s a fee. I forget how much but it depends on age and if you’re an in or out of state residence. A dozen plus cars at 9:45am with still plenty of room. The lot had filled up with another couple dozen cars when I returned shortly before noon but the lot on the south side of the park where South Ridge Trail starts/ends was empty.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Trivial. Water this far south in the state is not high at all like it is in the mountains from the snow melt.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I don’t recall any blowdowns and I believe all the trails signs/posts were intact. The trails were easy to follow and were generally well blazed. The trails are color coded such that their blaze matches the color they’re painted on a map by the parking lot. Northern loop blue, ski trail green, Bluff light blue, Terrace yellow, Tote Rd turquoise, Boundary orange/red, connectors lime green, South Ridge red.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs are allowed if they’re leashed and picked up after. Signs indicate that you will be asked to leave if you do not follow these rules. Good trails for dogs but I don’t recall seeing any.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: First Maine Mtn Redline of the day. I’d already hiked Boundary Trail and Summit Trail few years ago so this cleaned up everything else and got me the northernmost tip of Boundary which I think I missed the first time (if redlining, watch out for this jct!).

My route: Northern Loop —> Ski Trail —> Northern Loop south —> Bluff —> Northern Loop north —> Bluff (again to make mini loop) —> Terrace north —> Northern Loop —> Tote Rd —> Tote Connector —> Boundary Trail —> Boundary Connector —> Tote Connector (formed a loop) back to —> Tote Rd to summit —> South Ridge Trail with views and shortcut back to car.

The trails didn’t seem crowded at all until I came to the summit where there were well over a dozen people. There were a few mud pits but overall trail conditions were drier than I’d expect for this time of year and the mud wasn’t very bad at all. There were exactly two small patches of snow on trail nearby each other which I’m sure are now long melted! Gaia had me at 5mi, 550ft of gain, 2hrs.
