 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Success Pond Road at the start is dirt and became muddy on way out (due to city using area as snow dump); road is icy and somewhat rutted in spots, caution needed not to get going too fast; parking at trailhead has a frozen snow bank but room enough to pull off; having a shovel might be a good idea!! Some spots melting this PM... |

 | Comments: |
Thanks to snowshoers recently, there was a relatively nice trench, tho choppy in spots; morning lower part was frozen and used spikes until up higher into soft woods, snow got softer and snowshoes needed; approaching summit the snowshoers started up the summit cone and tracks ended with them sliding backwards; I had switched to Hillsounds Pro Crampons and was able to stay left and use trees to get me to summit; I kicked in some steps but also postholed and a few spruce traps, but there's track to summit..took caution coming back down, snowshoes back on after getting down a ways; snow down low in hardwoods became softer in PM sun and had some balling up issues but not too bad..If a chilly night might be good to tag it tomorrow... |
