Comments: Wow! Saddleback vs Sugarloaf... No words! Saddleback welcomes uphill with open arms. Sugarloaf couldn't be bothered. We bought an uphill ascent ticket and went on our way. It is in yellow on their trail map. Ski Patrol knew us but still checked in, everyone was super friendly, even the groomer who stopped and idled (and drank his coffee) while we went by. The uphill route vs a few years are is FAR better, its a true trail now and its quite lovely indeed. Yes you parallel ski trails but everyone is SO friendly! Lot's of hang tens on the way up and down (and one of the welcome crew at the lot who greet all, going - holy crap you went to THE HORN?). You pass many decision points along the way but the biggest one is at the top of the world, so called, the last hut. HEADS UP! This is likely to be closed soon (this week), the cover is sparse and they are trying to protect the alpine veg. CHECK THE MOUNTAIN REPORT! We had great conditions to the summit of Saddleback, and the 1.7 to the Horn was decent too. Good snow in places, and icy and barren in others. If you have hiked in the Northern Presidentials, you'd be used to what you'd run into here. Snowshoes car to car, the uphill access is a superhighway because well, its used by people who want everyone to have a good time. A great change from "I am the main character" and bare boot their way up to post on social media. Great lunch at the lodge!
