Comments
Comments: Well what a trip! Half of us took the trail around the first lake as we were told only 4” of ice of south branch lake but 3 of us took it and were just fine even with seeing a beaver. My 4 we tried to go around the second pond but the cliff section was too dangerous and we had to come back down at the junction of the peak of the ridges and head to the water. We had no issues and we headed straight for the furthest lean to at south branch…nnot knowing that wasn’t smart. The bog bidges after that was a nightmare and the 2 guys with pulks had to go back out onto the lake to get around it. We got to the junction of the winter route and the hiking trail so we took the winter route. Well this was pretty hard to follow in places and very wet in others as it had not froze nor was there anyone who had made it out for the season. This breaking and route finding was some of the worst! It took us forever to make it out. We made it to pogy pond and since it was dark we went back onto the hiking trail as we would have had to cross a lake in the dark which is not ideal. So the last 3.5 miles were messy for sure. My foot went into the water and we were all getting hangry. We made it to the bunkhouse for 9!! Well we made it and got the cabin to 83 lol. Another adventure weekend in Baxter.
