Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The parking lot looked like it had been plowed at one point but now had more snow on it and was tricky to get up. AWD could probably get the whole way up but I didn’t even try partway up as it was beginning to curve. I turned around and parked on the side. It’s a short, semi-steep road with an uphill turn in it to the parking lot. Also, there’s a snowbank you’ve got to plow through at the base

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail is blazed in blue and sometimes like green. Easy to follow except perhaps at the ledges. No blowdowns that I recall.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I wouldn’t do it now with the snow/ice and scrambles. Without ice, some many hiking dogs could probably tackle these scrambles

Comments
Comments: 3rd little redline of the day after Chase Mtn and Hedgehog Mtn (and scoping out the road to Oak Hill). A short but steep hike to a great view. Neat view of the peak from the road/parking area. I didn’t start in spikes which was silly given the scrambles I knew were at the top. I’d recommend wearing them from the start but I didn’t throw them on until the scrambles. I think I could see where the even more scrambly path the guidebook mentions (the one to the right that the MBPL doesn’t recommend) goes. The main trail was not terribly clear here as the blazes were likely partly underneath the snow and the way the blazes faces on this one tree were a bit confusing. I found where I’m pretty sure the trail goes though and it wasn’t too sketchy even with the ice. The trail then wound up to the highpoint with a view and bench. Great views.
