Comments
Comments: It was a perfect day for The Horn and Saddleback. I ascended via the Berry Picker's Trail from the east. The road in to the trail is in great condition, and should be passable for just about any vehicle, including a sedan with care. The first mile of trail which coincides with an ATV trail could probably be driven by a high clearance vehicle. It's in good shape, it just has deep water bars. The last half mile to the trailhead (after the Fly Rod Crosby Trail junction) is only open to ATVs and foot traffic.

The trail itself is in good shape with only a few minor wet spots and some blowdowns. At the intersection with the AT, I started by taking a right up to The Horn. It's a relatively easy ascent, largely above treeline. At the summit are spectacular 360 degree views. It was very windy and quite cold on the ridge.

I then retraced my steps and climbed Saddleback proper. The climb was shorter, but steeper than going up The Horn. Yet again, there were amazing views in all directions from the summit. The AT was quite busy, but there was no one else to be seen on the Berry Picker's Trail. It was a great day to be up in the high peaks!
