 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Patte Mill road is still closed and gated, but in fine shape. There is room for one car on side of road just beside (not blocking) gate. Parked here and bikes to trailhead 1.8 miles, and another .8 miles to Albany Brook trailhead on flattish forest road. Room for several cars at southern trailhead on Birch Avenue, which is in middle of residential neighborhood. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No traditional crossings, but 10 minutes into Albany Mtn Trail (from north trailhead) you must walk across about 75 feet of beaver damn. Was able to stay dry with care-busted out the trekking poles and they were greatly appreciated. We disturbed A beaver that started tail slapping at us from only a few feet away. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
lots of small branches down on all trails. northern, well-traveled section of Albany Mtn trail in great shape and you can tell it gets a lot of tlc. The southern half of the trail is a hot mess at times. Not terrible but feels like a wilderness trail with some overgrown corridors, erosion, blowdowns, and extensive mud pits. The second half of Albany Brook Trail is muddy and has sections that have been obliterated by logging. there is a football field-sized clearing just before you reach round pond that is all logging destruction. You have to pick your way across it on downed limbs/stumps and bushwhacking into the end of the trail |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Great dog route lots of mud and water, nothing steep or scrambly. Fin had a great time |
|
 | Bugs: |
None yet! No ticks spotted either but these trails might be terrible for all bugs in summer with overgrown spots and lots of bogs in area |

 | Comments: |
Albany Mountain double traverse plus Albany Brook Trail with bike assist on the closed Patte Mill Rd. Northern half of Albany Mtn Trail is really nice with lots of rock steps and great foot bed. Northern half is clearly not traveled much. the steeper part is eroded and covered in downed leaves, and large sections of the flat forest road section is a swamp. Not tough following trail-watch for small yellow arrows on trees at forest road intersections. We had an angry beaver encounter and treed a black bear cub at the summit spur sign. We did not hang out to see mama. All biking was easy/flattish and enjoyable-first time in a bike in 20+ years and managed not to hurt myself:) Albany Brook Trail starts at beautiful Crocker Pond, then goes through half mile of logging destruction before reaching another pond lookout. Total route was 13.5 hiking and 5 miles biking. Fin did not appreciate having to jog those 5 miles behind me. |
