Go around gate to park loop rd, take a left go over bridge until you hook up with kebo brook trail. Take that until you cross park loop road again and start the Cadillac north ridge trail. Few small patches of snow and ice you can easily go around the first .05 mile then it’s clear sailing to the summit. Awesome above tree line hiking. It hugs the road at times you can drive up to summit but with no cars on it, it give’s it a more wilderness feeling. Beautiful blue sky white puffy clouds day. Not many people at summit, at times I was the only one there. Went to true summit over by the tower, not sure many people know about the marker, it’s not signed. On the way back down the Cadillac north ridge trail I kept eye balling a bald knob across the park loop road from where I entered the road. According to my map it listed it as Great Hill. I found a distinct herd path and followed it to a wonderful overlook looking back over to Cadillac, Dorr, Champlain mts. This wasn’t the summit, a little ways thru the trees I could see a higher point with a rock cairn so I headed over there to more beautiful views. Awesome day in ANP! |
