I brought snowshoes, micros, and crampons for this one because I had no clue what to expect. I wore the shoes to West, but micros would have been fine. There are some icy spots on the way up to West after the lean-to, especially one very sketchy spot before the summit. I changed to crampons from here all the way to the flat spot between summits. I put on my micros because there was a lot of bare rock with just enough ice on the approach to East, that it felt safer with them on. I wore micros the rest of the way down with no problem, except lots of tree hugging in the icy spots I mentioned on the way up. Be safe! |
