Comments
Comments: 1.5 mile road walk to trailhead which is an active snowmobile trail. Followed ski tracks to summit. I seem to be 1st set of snowshoes in awhile. Thankful for televators right after cabin. Once on ridge I broke out overlook to the left to a rock outcrop… no sign. Ski tracks stopped at summit. I broke trail over to helicopter pad where views I think are better and just beyond for panoramic north views. Katahdin in full view today. Beautiful bluebird sky day with awesome views of so many mountains. I started packing down a nice little shoe track…. Still needs packing down, snow was softening up in the sun. Met a young fella just as I was entering the hardwood line after cabin with no traction on… he really left some nasty post holes along with his dog… I tried smoothing out what I could back to the trailhead… rolled my ankle in shoes a few times… trail just way to soft for barebooting. Can’t imagine what it looks like now because he had to come back. We was the only 2 to use trail all day that I could see. Need a storm to probably fill in the holes… besides that, great hike 8.1 mile. Snowshoes all day.
