The Good: the trail was packed and frozen so I didn't sink in at all. I used micro spikes the whole day.
The Bad: the trail had been severely post-holed on the last warm day(s).
The Ugly: It was just an ugly trail. I had to pick my spots to step very carefully to avoid stepping in the wrong place. It could have been an easy day to twist an ankle or similar.
I saw Waumbek up there and his choice was to use snowshoes. His issues were that he had to go off the trail frequently as the trail itself was too rutted to use snowshoes on.
Very windy on top and a poor day for views so I didn't tarry. Overall a good hike. |
