Date of Hike: Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: First 1.7 miles of CVR passable with low clearance 4WD, beyond 2.3 miles a high clearance vehicle is definitely required. I am no 4WD expert, but with some maneuvering, was able to get all the way to the AT and beyond in a 4WD Tundra. In low clearance 4WD, use your own judgement from 1.7 Miles to 2.3 miles, what you can see is the worst of that stretch. Worst section overall is at about 2.4 miles where deep ruts alternate from one side to the other. The parking lot was empty:)

Comments
Comments: Ended up following the herd path from the top of S. Crocker to far on the way to Reddington, ended up on the old AT. Thought it might just be going in the wrong direction just to get down hill until I realized it was heading straight to Crocker. Decided to reverse the order of the peaks rather than turn around and followed the old trail (yellow blazes), the last 100 yards to the peak of Crocker was a fairly thick bushwhack. Followed today's AT back to S. Crocker.

The second time around on the herd path, looked very closely when the path veered sharply left from a heading of about 215 degrees and found the herd path to Reddington pretty well hidden in some spruce - look up for an orange ribbon about ten yards in. This herd path crossed the old AT trail that I followed earlier and entered the other side marked by a yellow ribbon where it continued on to Reddington.
