Comments
Comments: Microspikes were worn all the way up and back down, and were both perfect and necessary. Snowshoes stayed in the car and sulked, having to wait for another time. This trail has clearly been getting use, with several sets of footprints (some icy and frozen from the recent mild ice storm) apparent on the snowy and icy trail. Weather only got better as the day went on, with a mild 5mph westerly hardly felt at all in the trees up the trail. The sun and blue skies broke out of the clouds by the time the summit was reached, affording lovely views of the Whites. The wind of course felt brisker at the top, but not enough to stop any summit lunching and lounging. Descent was beautiful with the sun to the west breaking through the trees guiding the return to the parking lot.
