parked at the end of the plowed road across from the farm. There was enough room to not be on the road as the .7 road walk had powder with pure ice under it. |

Well I was not expecting to road walk as I heard that the road is usually plowed. Well that is not the case. I barebooted to the trailhead but once the few day old tire tracks were done it was maybe 4-6" of powder with sheer ice underneath. At the gate I put on my snowshoes (might as well get use to it as the first day of winter). This helped drastically. There were a few places that it made for some odd walking but happier with them on for sure. Shocking I know, I saw no one, and made the track for the winter if it gets set in or not. I have never went this way but without blazes anywhere, it was quite corridory and no issues making it to mud brook trail. I took that trail up and that was odd with snowshoes but still 4-6" in places. With the road walk it added up to 7 mile via gaia and with the wind on top, took about 4 hours for the whole trip. Such a nice peak if only I could have sat up there longer. |
