Comments
Comments: A newer tail in Albany Maine. It is one of the best designed trails I have ever been on (I met the owner and trail builder 2 years ago as they were finishing the trail). Trail has a soft bed and easy grades. In places where it would get steep they have put in easy switchbacks. A long stretch of bog bridges across the wet section and rock stairs where needed; worth a visit to see the trail work. Before heading up long mountain trails takes you along a stream with small falls and pools which would be awesome for soaking! Nice switchbacks once you start heading up long mountain. Trail doesn't go to the actual summit but to a ledge with a great panoramic view - 2.5 miles. Since my last visit last year it looks like they are extending the trail beyond this view ledge. If goes further up along a sequence of ledges; trail worker has cleared a path and started putting in rock staircases and cairns. Followed the trail for about 1/4 mile beyond the original view ledge (which is marked with a sign). Note: for those venturing beyond this view point the unfinished trail takes you along some ledges with straight drop offs and is narrow in spots. I'll be back to visit to determine where this trial eventually goes.
