Comments
Comments: First time here and now I understand why this place is always packed--Big Big Bang for your buck this peak! This must be Maine's answer to NH's Grand Monadnock. We made a six mile loop going up Loop, across to the pond and down Brook with a mile road walk up to our cars. Lots of people out, everyone respectful. Yup Tumbledown Boulder is a biggy. Only had to wait a couple minutes for the group ahead of us to get through Fat Man's Misery, what fun the cave with iron bars is to climb. Super windy and cool, fall is coming. I didn't see anyone else bother to go to the top of the West Peak and we had it all to ourselves so we took a long break and ate lunch. The views to the Whites and pointing out the ski areas and geez all those wind turbines out there. Why there isn't a trail to the higher bump of Tumbledown, maybe there was once since the trail that is called the Loop isn't one. Great way to end my visit to Maine. Thanks Laura and Karen having me along for the hike.
